Welcome Dundee Highlands’ Families,
Welcome to a brand new school year at Dundee Highlands Elementary School! My name is Mrs. Karen Cumpata, and I am the new principal of Dundee Highlands. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such rich traditions and strong community involvement. From many of the interactions that I have had with staff, students and parents, it is clear there is a partnership between all stakeholders to provide the best possible academic experience for all of our Dundee Highlands’ students. I look forward to fostering these relationships and working with teachers and staff to provide a positive educational experience for each child. I am looking forward to the day when the doors open for the 2016-2017 school year so that I can welcome all of the students and families and become a part of the Dundee Highlands’ family.
I have been dedicated to the field of education for fourteen years with experience in both the elementary and middle school classroom. My most recent administrative experience has been shaped by three years of successful leadership as one of the assistant principals at Dundee Middle School. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educational leader to Dundee Highlands and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.
Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established at Dundee Highlands by building strong relationships with parents, students, and community partners. We will continue to focus on Common Core skills across all content areas, consistent implementation of newly adopted ELA curriculum, and the use of data to inform instruction. We are also excited to provide exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities for all our students through the new STEM lab and art program. As a school, we are looking forward to providing academic experiences for our students that are rigorous and relevant but also focusing on positive communication and relationships. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who walks into Dundee Highlands, teachers, students and parents, are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun and nurturing environment.
I am truly excited to join the DHES family and share this upcoming school year with you and your child. Building a strong home-school partnership is important to me and vital to a child's successful educational journey. Please feel free to stop in, call or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet! Thank you for allowing us to nurture, encourage, and challenge your child as we begin the 2016-2017 school year!
